The BMW R 1300 RT is your shortcut to the ultimate touring experience. With its carefully selected equipment for comfort and technology, you are always in control – for a top-class experience on long-distance trips. Its powerful boxer engine and 145 Nm of torque mean that you and your passenger can enjoy dynamic tours. The visual levity of the design gives the bike a particularly vivacious aesthetic. In short: With this RT, you can make the most of every minute of your journey.
Next Level: Dynamic Chassis Adaption
You can look forward to a real highlight in the Dynamic Chassis Adaption (DCA), the optional chassis for the new R 1300 RT that features variable spring rate setting, two individually adjustable damping modes, as well as two independent riding positions. The combination of two riding positions and the adaptable spring rate transforms your RT into two completely different motorcycles.
Both riding positions are perfectly adapted to the riding mode selected. In all comfort-oriented riding modes (excluding Dynamic and Dynamic Pro), you can enjoy softer spring/damping settings and a balanced riding position – for relaxed and stable straight sections. If you switch to Dynamic or Dynamic Pro mode, the ride height is elevated, while the spring/damping settings become harder. This allows you to explore even greater lean angles. Additionally, the rear damper is extended, making the steering angle more steep – for significantly more active and steerable drivability. Additionally, you can adjust the damping to meet your own exact preferences via Clicksetting. With Dynamic Chassis Adaptation, you can enjoy maximum variability in your riding experience with ease – to suit your preferences exactly.
More visibility, more safety: The light technology
With Headlight Pro, you’ll see the road in a completely new light. The adaptive headlight function ensures that the road is optimally illuminated, even if you’re riding with a lean angle, or watching the day turn to night on extended tours. The optional adaptive light modes automatically adapt the light distribution to suit the driving situation – for more visibility, safety, and comfort. At low speeds, the lights cover a particularly wide area, ensuring that pavements and crossings are optimally illuminated. On country roads, the low-beam headlight extends further into the distance and becomes somewhat narrower, although it’s still significantly wider than usual. At motorway speeds, the light cone reaches even further forward and becomes narrower still, helping the rider to see into the distance.
Optimised wind and weather protection
With the optional variable slipstream deflectors, you can manually regulate the airflow to suit your needs. More comfort, less wind pressure – for a more relaxed ride on every tour.
In the lower position, you benefit from a pleasant ventilation of the upper body, while the upper position maximises the wind and weather protection – a tangible improvement compared to the predecessor model.
The standard wind and weather protection has also been optimised. With the new cylinder trim panel, your shoes and ankles will stay dry, even in rainy conditions.
Simply efficient: The automatic shift assistant
The automated shift assistant takes touring to a new level. The automatic clutch operation and gearshifting guarantee an effortless ride – perfect for long distances. Switch to “D” mode for efficiency and precision, or retain control over gear changes in “M” mode. At the same time, your boxer engine delivers precise power, while the gentle gear changes ensure a stable and comfortable ride.
A safer ride: The Riding Assistant
The Riding Assistant gives you a tangible boost to comfort and safety on every tour. Thanks to radar-based functions like Active Cruise Control (ACC) with brake function, you can enjoy a more relaxed ride, especially over long distances. The system allows you to configure a set speed and choose the distance that should be maintained between you and the vehicle ahead. A radar sensor detects vehicles up to 100 m away and automatically adjusts the speed in order to maintain the distance selected. If the road is clear, the set speed remains constant.
Additionally, the front collision warning ensures that you can react to vehicles ahead of you in a timely manner. In the event that you overlook a vehicle ahead, you will feel the vehicle brake briefly, reminding you to brake independently.
The lane change warning constantly monitors the area around your blind spot and warns you if you get too close to another vehicle when changing lanes. This means you can complete your manoeuvres in a safe and comfortable way.
The rear collision warning also offers added safety. If you are at a standstill and the traffic behind you approaches too quickly and too closely, the system activates the hazard warning lights to alert you of this, helping to prevent potential collisions.
Smart equipment: Audio system and Connectivity Hub
With the Audio Pro sound system, you can set the tone – the quality speakers and 4-channel actuation with various sound profiles provide you with crystal-clear treble and rich bass – for an unforgettable sound experience on tour. It’s also a visual highlight to boot: You can see the gold speaker through the cover.
The Connectivity Hub allows you to operate BMW Motorrad accessories seamlessly, including the head-up display glasses or the heated jacket. As such, the troublesome process of repeatedly pressing buttons on your helmet is a thing of the past.
Even more flexible: The luggage system
The new luggage system sets new standards with respect to technology and comfort. The touring Vario case offers flexible volume adjustment, ensuring that you always have plenty of space for your gear. In conjunction with the central locking system, the system ensures the highest level of security with the option to securely lock the case, the storage compartment, and the topcase. Additionally, the cases have interior lighting, and the left-hand case has an integrated power socket.
